this is coming from an ex-raikim shipper so
but anyways yeah
kimiko IS strong and ferocious and didn’t take any of their shit. she was an independent girl and although raikim was slightly hinted at (not heavily but i mean, implications were pretty obvious) she wasn’t made as an important character bc she was a love interest, pm like you said, and a lot of cartoons/kids things/and also movies make girl characters important just bc they’re ~love interests~
but i disagree w you in terms of how rai treated her? i mean, comparatively, rai pretty much was cocky towards everyone—omi probably the worst, and then dojo, and then kimiko, and then clay. (not counting bad guys ofc.) but rai as a character is like that! he antagonizes pretty much everyone without realizing it because that’s who he IS. all of the xs main characters have glaringly obvious character flaws and i think that’s why the show has so few fans—characters aren’t made out to be more sensible or likable than any others.
so we can go into why fans DO like xs but that’ll be getting off-topic. point is, raimundo didn’t treat kimiko any worse than he treated anyone else. and she definitely didn’t act like “let’s go have some babies! :D” with him. yeah sure, she kissed him on the cheek twice (although do note that in some cultures that’s actually a gesture of friendship? idk how you take it but that’s how i did) and has hugged—well, pretty much all of the three main guys.
quite honestly i don’t see why people are so quick to shipping them, aside from the ~kissing~ moments. and well that it was obvious that raimundo had a crush on her, bc of his dream thing and when he put her chi back in her. SPEAKING OF, actually, i’d like to say that i think kimiko might’ve actually treated raimundo ~worse than he treated her? raimundo teased her but never undermined her as a girl—esp in the tangle web comb episode, he was the only one of the dudes who believed in her! and he said that she looked nice! don’t know how that makes him treat her like shit. but she’s always quick to get on his back—well, ANYONE’s back—bc of her temper bc that’s her character flaw.
but anyways.
so yeah, about the shipping thing. honestly kimiko is a++++ as a character herself, with being a strong female protag and awesome feminist and all (not to mention her clothes and well pretty much everything abt her) and ofc you don’t need to ship her with anyone!! but honestly if you were to i, myself, think she had the best chemistry with clay—they had their disagreements and they’re always eye-to-eye and kimiko’s the only one who really brings out the passion in clay? but they get along really well anyways! but yeah. a lot of shippers usually have a ~ship the most normal/best looking characters~ mindset and raikim kinda falls under that, and meh :\

so cartoons i like - not restricted to kids’ cartoons, so - are xiaolin showdown (which i was going to rewatch but haven’t touched for over a month yet, bah D: i was gonna gif things so that’s why i haven’t), powerpuff girls (was in the middle of s3), american dragon: jake long (currently in the middle of s2, and will rewatch and gif when done), south park, and, um. more!!! because cartoons are awesome.
but yeah so this is a sideblog and mostly for me to talk about feelings or gif/post stuff and stuff like that BECAUSE I HAVE PHOTOSHOP FUCK YEAH
